Rosacea Book Reviews and Comments

"I have just spent several very exciting days reading through your new book. You did an exceptional job: clear and concise, remarkably informative, and in some ways, unexpectedly moving. Your personal journey through rosacea is a compelling story in itself and certainly gives remarkable credibility to your research and conclusions. You have produced a "Bible" for rosacea sufferers the world over."

-- Bill Perry, Founder of Rosacea Care

"I just received your book. You have done a superb job. It is by far the best researched and best written book to date on rosacea. You are a dedicated scientist who has made great strides in advancing the knowledge about rosacea and related vascular disorders. All physicians should have a copy of your book on understanding and treating rosacea. I am recommending your book to all of my patients. I look forward to working with you on many new and exciting rosacea projects in the near future."

-- Dr. Patrick Bitter, Sr., M.D.
-- Institute for Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, California

"I just want to thank you for your book on rosacea. It was very informative, especially the treatment sections. As an internal specialist, I usually prescribe antibiotics for my rosacea patients and refer the harder cases to dermatologists. Based on the clinical studies detailed in your book, I have expanded rosacea treatments to include anti-flushing medications such as clonidine, moxonodine and beta blockers. My patients are all experiencing improvements in rosacea symptoms and flushing episodes. I have also had excellent results with the use of low dose accutane. Thank you for your excellent text book."

-- Dr. S. McNeil, M.D.

"We are seeing more and more rosacea patients each month. Several of my patients have brought your book into my office. I finally purchased your book specifically for the treatment section. We are now treating our rosacea patients with the newer macrolide antibiotics, accutane, naproxen and refer patients to see laser specialists. This has resulted in significant symptom clearance in most of our patients. We appreciate the time and effort that it must have taken to organize and detail rosacea treatments for both physicians and patients. As a physician, I appreciate the medical references and excerpts from clinical studies. Please add me to your list of physicians so that we may be notified of any new rosacea treatments, especially pertaining to the treatment of flushing."

--- Dr. Montgomery, M.D. and Colleagues

"Some of my patients told me about your website and book. I borrowed a copy of your book in order to read over your treatments recommendations and references on clinical studies. I have never seen so much information on rosacea treatments in one place. I have a new motivation to treat the vascular nature of rosacea and try to listen more closely to my patients' complaints about flushing episodes and trigger avoidance. I am now treating rosacea more aggressively with oral medications listed in your book such as anti-hypertensive meds, sympathetic nerve blockers, isotretinoin and anti-inflammatory antibiotics. Most patients have experienced significant improvements with your treatment suggestions and some look to be rosacea-free. I just ordered several copies of your book for my office and colleagues. You are providing an invaluable service. Please add me to your email list so that I may be kept abreast of any new rosacea treatments in the near future. Thank you."

-- Dr. Kenneth Jamison, M.D.

"A patient brought your book to me and suggested I read it. I ordered a copy
and just finished it. I thought it was excellent, especially your treatment section.
I am going to create a questionnaire for my rosacea patients and try to apply your principles. I have a good digital camera so I will be able to follow their progress. Please put me on your doctor's list which surely must be growing."

-- Dr. Bruce Bennin, M.D.

"Your book is a GODSEND! If others besides yourself would have put the effort into rosacea research, there probably would be a cure by now! My Dermatologist has borrowed my book and I'm sure he will be amazed at the research you've done and the amount of data you've accumulated! Thank you for the hope and knowledge that at least one qualified person is taking on this miserable condition! This brings a great "peace of mind" in itself!"

-- Michael Kline, Massachusetts

"I wanted to congratulate you on your excellent book. It is by far the most comprehensive book I have read to date on rosacea. I also wanted to thank you for saving me a considerable sum of money. My insurance would not cover laser treatments until I brought your book in and showed them your section on laser therapy for rosacea. They agreed to cover 5 photoderm sessions at 100%. So, your book ($29.95) saved me over two thousand dollars! The laser treatments resulted in almost complete clearance of my rosacea and I am now going outside without makeup. Thanks again for everything. Keep working, we need you."

-- Emily Dembrosky, California

"Thank you for your book. I have been at wits end regarding my fire-red rosacea. My dermatologist had basically given up on my case. I finally brought in highlighted sections of your book. He spent about 20 minutes going over the information and then prescribed two anti-flushing medications that you recommended. This has reduced my flushing remarkably and I now feel a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. Thank you for organizing your treatments so rosacea sufferers and doctors could understand. I am going to order another copy of your book because my dermatologist kept your book!"

-- Jonathan Kelly, Georgia

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude for your book. I have been seeing a laser specialist for the past two years for my rosacea. He has been treating isolated patches of my face. I brought your book in and showed him your wonderful section on laser therapy for rosacea sufferers. He now treats my entire flush zone and has used your pretreatment flushing protocol three times. This has resulted in remarkable clearance of my broken blood vessels, tomato red face and flushing. The laser specialist is now treating other rosacea sufferers with your protocol and has ordered your book. I thank you for your dedication to compiling the latest and best treatments for rosacea sufferers."

-- Nathan Daniels, Pennsylvania

"I know you receive a lot of emails, but I had to personally tell you what a difference your book has made to my life. I have had rosacea, facial redness and severe flushing for over 20 years. I have tried several different lasers without much success. I finally saw a 'specialist' who has your book on his shelf. He recently implemented your 'double pass' treatment protocol to treat the superficial and deep vessels. The improvements have been amazing. My facial redness is completely gone and my flushing episodes are almost non-existent. After 20 years, I now feel normal again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

-- Brad Edmonds, Texas

"I know you've probably received thousands of complimentary emails on your book,
but I have to put in mine also. I can't put it down! I received my book last week and I still keep going over it. After twelve years of getting beat into submission just like everyone else, I finally feel like I am going to have a chance for normality. Dr. Nase your a Godsend! With your limited time and all the hours that you have put in to help thousands of us frustrated rosaceans, I could never thank you enough. I'm spreading the word on your book to as many people as I can. Thank you very much."

-- Kim Levens, Arizona

"Thank you so much for your book. Over the last year I have purchased all four rosacea books currently available on the Internet and the other books are worthless compared to yours. I was able to take your book into my stubborn dermatologist and show him some studies and references on the newer treatments. He finally agreed to allow me to try one of the oral medications that you highly recommended. My flushing and facial redness have decreased by about 75% since starting on your treatment protocol. Without your research/book, I would have never been able to persuade my derm to try something more aggressive. Thank you so much!!"

-- Stacey Manchester, Oregon

"Thank you for your wonderful and inspirational book. I have had severe rosacea for six years. My most troublesome symptoms are a beet-red burning face, constant flushing, and dozens of papules. Thanks to your book, my physician has finally taken an aggressive stance on my treatment. Due to your treatment recommendations I have reversed my severe rosacea back to the mild stage. In addition, due to your in-depth discussion on rosacea triggers and their causes we have been able to successfully reduce most of the troublesome daily triggers. This has given me my life back. I cannot thank you enough for my new face and new found freedom!"

-- Jay Santos, California

"I have had severe rosacea for 15 years. I was given no hope by several physicians - they said I had to live with my fire-red face and bulbous nose. After purchasing your book, I realized there was hope for cases such as myself. A caring physician followed your treatment plan of low dose accutane and oral sympathetic nerve blockers. My doctor and I cannot believe my clear face. My nose is back to normal size and my skin is near white. My flushing and burning sensations are reduced by about 90%. Thank you so much for your treatment information, your dedication to this disorder, and your inspirational book."

-- Brad Sizemore, Utah

"We have read most of your book in short bites as every rosacea patient we see either brings an extract or their copy to point something out to me. You certainly seem to be filling a huge unmet need in helping these people.

We are currently pressing on with a zero tolerance for flushing after treatment and by this I mean significant doses of moxonidine for at least 2 weeks post IPL. New patients previously untreated and who are not on anti-flushing agents receive moxonidine at a dose of 200 mcgs daily. We encourage them to stay on this for at least 2 weeks. Clients who come to us already established on an anti flushing agent are converted to moxonidine or if already taking it their dose is increased. The results have been amazingly good! Before we needed several treatments -- now we are reckoning on halving the numbers of treatments to see any given result. Thank you for your very informative book."

Book Review by David Pascoe, Founder of the Internet's largest Rosacea Support Group:

"We first heard about Dr. Geoffrey Nase's book in February 1999. Following his introduction to what he was doing, he posted quite a few messages to the group (you can find 45 of them in the highlights). In those email messages, he gave a lot of information that would change our understanding of rosacea. His early comments dealt with a voiding steroids and alcohols, and promoted the use of moisturising oils, zinc oxide, isotretinoin and photoderm. The information left us wanting more and waiting for his book to be published.

Now, Dr. Nase has delivered in much more detail from his years of research into rosacea. The book has a definite style, somewhat `emphatic', with its judicious use of italics and underlining to drive his points home. Knowing the amount of research that has gone into the book, we would probably do well to note his highlighted points. Enough about style, what about content? Well there is a lot to read, 320 pages of text with a huge number of references. If you just sum the references in each chapter you get over 1,100 papers and articles! My pile of rosacea papers obtained from hours of surfing the net and from the Australian College of Dermatologists is just a drop in the ocean of information that Dr. Nase has read for us. This gives credence to the book being an authority that we can trust.

In the early chapters he talks about the confusion, poor diagnosis, poor treatment, and thus hopelessness for rosacea sufferers. This is surely a common path for us, symptoms do get worse over time, and with it comes negative thoughts and feelings. He talks about the progression of the disease in all sufferers, from mild flushing to persistent flushing and permanent damage. I hadn't really thought about my symptoms from this point of view. It was interesting to hear that the papules/pustules are not `acne-like' at all - they are lesions due to the effects of immune cells that have leaked out and are causing inflammation. He also makes the point that you don't have to have papules/pustules to have rosacea, but it is the flushing that we all have in common. It is great to see that we can put to rest some theories that hang around and probably detract from us beating Rosacea. He deals with H. pylori, demodex, leaky gut, sebaceous gland hyperactivity and acne.

In regard to acne he warns against many anti-acne treatments like BHAs, AHAs, retinoids, peels, harsh cleansers and alcohols.

One striking chapter is the `Recipe for Rosacea' -- short but powerful examples of how Rosacea can come to stay in someone's life. Recipe for Rosacea: now there's a set of instructions that no-one should ever follow!

In Chapter 5, I particularly liked the way that Dr. Nase lists triggers in order from extremely important to not important. This helps us sharply focus on where we should spend our time tackling the rosacea beast.

Chapters 10 and 11 go through a long list of suggested treatments. Chapter 10 goes through in great detail, listing each treatment under sub-sections titled oral, topical, laser, nutritional, surgical and preventative. He also lists for each treatment the efficacy of that treatment against 3 groups of symptoms: papules/pustules, facial inflammation/redness/burning, and facial flushing/swelling/telangiectasia.

There are several new treatments that I hadn't heard of before for eg. naproxen, ascomycin and rilmenidine. Emerging treatments sound promising, the future does indeed hold some hope for us as the professional world slowly wakes up to rosacea.

By no means is the book only about photoderm and isotretinoin, but I thought it worthwhile to mention briefly about them here.

Photoderm Section: Dr. Nase has championed the use of photoderm from the beginning of his involvement with us. In the time between announcing the book and it being published, dozens of list members have had the treatment. The majority have been quite to very satisfied with the results. Those looking to the book for a recipe to give to their photoderm practitioner will be left wanting. Photoderm isn't that simple. In expert hands great results are being seen. How you get yourself into these hands remains a key (and difficult) problem for rosacea sufferers. Having said that, here is the first place that I have actually seen an authoritative written description of the general treatment profile and usage of the available wavelengths.

Knowing that there is a growing body of published articles on photoderm, and a growing list of patient feedback is a good thing for the the progression of this treatment. Isotretinoin Section: The book goes into detail about the benefits of low dose oral isotretinoin (i.e. accutane, roaccutane). This is an area that has some good research to suggest that this form of treatment with isotretinoin can really help. I wasn't aware of such a body of thought about low dose treatment.

Dr. Nase pleads with us to to avoid dangerous treatments that are still the norm. Given the depth of background information, the book is an excellent resource to take to your doctor. Nowhere else will you find so much information about rosacea. Definitely nowhere else will you find so many conclusions with research and real world patient experiences to back it up.

Ocular Rosacea: I haven't suffered from any ocular symptoms so don't normally read up on this area. Chapters 14 and 15 discuss the reasons for ocular symptoms and available treatments. The treatment sections deal with eyelid scrubs, compresses, tears, and new gel drops. He also talks about new therapies using mast cell stabilisers, and special emerging formulations of metronidazole. In keeping with the format of the facial rosacea sections, the ocular rosacea section details oral, topical, laser, nutritional and surgical therapies.

We have heard from the book's printer that the real cost of the book should be more like $175. We have all been given a wonderful gift by Dr. Nase. I would whole heartedly encourage all rosacea sufferers to purchase a copy. This will do 2 important things. 1) you will get your hands on this authoritative text and 2) encourage Dr. Nase to continue to be our independent advocate and push the frontiers on our behalf."

-- David Pascoe

Book review by Dr. Rick Lawrence, Ph.D., a member of the Rosacea Support Group:

Accutane: The section on accutane / isotretinoin is very good, particularly in that Geoffrey summarizes a number of excellent publications on accutane that I certainly was unaware off. The most interesting of these appeared in 1998, and demonstrates reduction in both papules AND erythema in all rosacea patients treated with low-dose (10 mg/day). Papule reduction is well-documented elsewhere, but this paper also quantifies reduction in erythema and telangiectasia. Another very interesting observation in the paper is that 18 rosacea participants complained of facial burning at the onset of the study, yet ALL claimed full mitigation within 6 weeks of this low-dose regimen. Again, the key observation is don't let your derm put you on weight-derived dosage common in acne treatment, but demand no more than 10 mg/day.

Moxonodine: Geoffrey personally used this successfully, and its value lies in its more precise targeting of sympathetic nervous system activity than clonidine, without the usual side effects of clonidine. It certainly is not well publicized elsewhere. I had to search a while to finally find some sources. I have had some success in mitigating flushing with Xanax, and am going to pursue moxonodine since I believe my flushing is sympathetic-mediated.

Nitric Oxide Inhibitors: Very interesting discussion here. Net is that no matter what initially induces vasodilation, it is likely that the process is accelerated by further release of nitric oxide (via various mechanisms). Since NO is powerful vasodilator in itself, if one can somehow inhibit its release, then vasodilation (flushing) should be more contained.

Leaky Gut Syndrome: I must say that I have been very skeptical of this thread that has pervaded the rosacea board for a while. Geoffrey dismisses the leaky gut connection as "borderline ridiculous". Amen.

Other Comments: In my opinion, by far the most valuable service provided by Dr. Nase's book are the excellent summaries of a number of key publications spanning a range of medical journals. I am a bit of a Medline junkie myself, but I have touched a miniscule fraction of the papers Geoffrey has summarized here. Specifically, the accutane discussion revealed a lot more literature than I personally was aware of. Similarly, the discussion on oral hypertensive mediations for flushing is MUCH more comprehensive than the most recent review paper (Singer, 1998) on the subject. His bibliography, and his astute comments on these papers, makes this book absolutely essential reading for those of us who really want to understand our disease at the deepest level. I also very much appreciate his (sometimes subjective) assessments of the efficacy of each treatment for each of several rosacea symptoms.

--Dr. Rick Lawrence

Book review excerpt by Brady Barrows, founder of the Rosacea-Control.com Support Group:

"'Beating Rosacea: Vascular, Ocular, and Acne Forms', is a must have if you are treating your rosacea with a physician. The author, Dr. Geoffrey Nase, also known as the 'rosacea evangelist,' has compiled a considerable amount of rosacea research in his book. No other book has more complete coverage of rosacea and the treatments used for this disease. A rosacean who is treating rosacea with the advice of his or her physician and does not have this book should think seriously about getting this book and carefully reading it. Dr. Nase not only covers prescription medications for rosacea but also just about all the non-prescription treatments available. A rosacea patient without the knowledge contained in this book accepting any treatment offered by a physician may end up with some serious problems since many dermatologists are not keeping up with the latest information on rosacea. Some still offer treatments that Dr. Nase warns against.

Dr. Nase covers all the medication prescription drugs intelligently. If your physician would read his book, it would help immensely, but at least you can read it and decide if the treatment offered by your physician is worthwhile, based on Dr. Nase's comprehensive information."

-- Brady Barrows

"We have just received your book "Beating Rosacea". It is excellent and informative in an area of medicine where there seems to be little solid information for the general public. Congratulations. My close friend has had many of her experiences confirmed by the details in your book. She has successfully used Photoderm therapy and Tolerin skin care products and looks forward to trying many other treatments you recommend. Congratulations on a great book and a fine public service."

-- Dr. John Lang, Ph.D., Biochemistry & Nutrition

"I just received your book. It only took 4 days to get to Canada! I have spent the last 8 hours reading your book. It is the most amazing book. It simplifies the most complex actions and reactions in the body. I have learned more from your book than 20 years of doctor appointments. Your book is worth its weight in gold."

-- Mark K., Canada

"I found your book to be the single most important tool for controlling my rosacea. Your well laid out guidelines for rosacea treatment and your protocols for addressing individual symptoms made it simple for me (and my doctor) to find the most effective treatment. Thank you Dr. Nase."

-- Luke Bishop, North Carolina

"I cannot thank you enough for your dedication to Beating Rosacea. I have been undergoing many of the treatments recommended in your book and my skin has not looked this good in five years. I think the anti-inflammatory Biaxin has had the most dramatic affect on me. The other treatments I have done over the last year that you recommended are Photoderm, antihistamine treatment, and skincare changes. I could not put a monetary value on what you have done for me. Life really changes with rosacea under control. Thanks for all your hard work."

-- Matt Mildren, USA

"By following the treatment suggestions in your book I have been able to decrease my facial redness by approximately 60%. I have been following its easy suggestions; some of them are as simple as getting vitamins and a new razor and others are things like laser treatments for my blood vessels. The book was money well spent..actually it was a lot less than seeing a doctor one time and your suggestions have completely stopped the progression of my rosacea and facial flushing. I can honestly say it has improved my quality of life very much. I for one will be introducing it to a number of doctors next week."

-- Anthony M., USA

"I just wanted to thank you for your book. I just received it yesterday and read every page! This book is a godsend and I can't tell you how much it has meant to me. You have given me hope that something can be done to beat the rosacea beast! I am indebted to you, and all those that helped you along the way. Your recovery, research, and now the book will help countless others and for that I am eternally grateful!"

-- Dr. Shawn Cafferky, Ph.D.

"I am an anesthesiologist in Alabama who has been following your amazing work and research on rosacea the past few years. Since I am a 32 year old rosacea sufferer myself, your information has made a huge impact on my condition. Due to your treatment suggestions, my rosacea is under better control now than it has been in a long time. Thank you."

-- Dr. Eddie Ash, M.D.

"I am someone who benefited from your wonderful book and it is hard to put into words how much it has meant to me. Because of you, I am almost a normal color at all times. I can get up in the morning without wondering what I will see when I look into the mirror. Life is worth living again. Thank you. God bless!"

-- Jackie Bush, USA

"I just received my book this morning. I am at work and cannot put your book down. I am so overwhelmed by the first couple of pages, I feel like breaking down and crying. The first pages depict a 24 hour detailed description of what a rosacean goes through in one day. Oh MY.... this is me! I feel like my rosacea has gotten so bad to that I am thinking about it every minute of every hour. This book should be a best seller among anyone suffering this disease AND anyone that has a loved one with this disease. I am highlighting the sentences that mostly pertain to me and plan to show my family, friends, and doctors. Words cannot express how thankful I am to be reading this...and that I am not ALONE. Thank you DR. NASE!"

-- Christi P., Florida

"I received your book in the mail a couple of days ago and having just finished it. I wanted to write and say thank you!!!! I have been suffering with rosacea for almost 10 years and had lost hope until I read your book. It is so good to know that there are experts that understand this disease and are making some head way in treating it. I am going to show my physician your treatment suggestions immediately."

-- Mark Whittier, San Francisco

"I wanted to let you know that I received your book this week and it has already made a difference. It was good to know that the pain I have when I flush is not all in my head, and that I can take a pro-active stance in fighting and treating this disease. I cried when I read comments from other Rosacea suffers and I now understand that I am not alone. I appreciate all the time you have given to us and all the research you have done."

-- Deborah J. Snow, USA

"Your book has brought me new hope in place of the awful desperation I have felt. I have been struggling with rosacea for the past 3 years. Reading your book has changed my outlook. I now feel that with the new information I have learned from your book I will be able to take my life back! Thank you so much for all of the hours you spent suffering and hurting, but then turning it into research that will help us all. Words cannot express my gratitude to you for your work."

-- Kelly Palmer, USA

"I found your book to be thoroughly informative, personally validating, and extremely hopeful! I have had rosacea for 4 years. Your book helped me realize that my case is typical, not freakish. Like others you mentioned, including yourself, I went to numerous dermatologists who seemed confused and baffled by my situation. Several dermatologists looked at me like I was nuts when I explained that my skin burned. I commend you on your dedication to this book. It gives me great hope that rosaceans have someone like you on our side. I am looking forward to the day when there will be a topical treatment that actually reduces flushing and burning. That is when I will welcome summer again with open arms like I did years ago and happily fling the self-conscious monkey off my back! Thank you for all you are doing."

-- Laura M., St. Louis, MO

"I just read most of your book, it's great. Now I understand rosacea is really a vascular disease with a target organ of the facial skin. Thank you for all your work... I am blown away by your book. Your work is brilliant and the world of Dermatology needs to know this stuff. They are in the dark ages. I am a nurse in a major teaching hospital. I am struck by how you used a personal illness to help science and people. I only hope I can find the help I need to apply your methods. Thank you for being so thorough."

-- Karen Currier, Registered Nurse

"Thank you so much for all your brilliant work on rosacea and its treatments. Your contribution to the understanding of this disease is groundbreaking and invaluable to rosacea sufferers. The treatments listed in your book have resulted in significant clearance of my rosacea symptoms. Your guide was easy to follow and easily presented to my physician for much needed prescriptions."

-- Anne M., Australia

"Dr. Nase -- Every dermatologist should have a copy of your book in his or her office. If not for the excellent research and information detailing the physiology and treatment of the condition, then at least for the terrific introduction that gives insight into the lives of rosacea sufferers. Thanks Dr. Nase."

-- Pam, USA

"I showed my physician your book today and he was very impressed with it. He was happy that I'd been sensible and done some of my own research. He took a photocopy of the imprint page with the URL so he can order his own copy! We will begin aggressive therapy on my severe rosacea that includes both systemic anti-inflammatory medications and new topical rosacea creams. Thank you Dr. Nase."

-- Brenda C., Melbourne, Australia

"I recently received your book Beating Rosacea. I must commend you on your informative and thoughtful guide. It was such a relief to have this information at hand given the amazing lack of knowledge about our disease. I now find myself educating my healthcare providers on a regular basis! I had grown weary to say the least of their stabs in the dark and misdiagnoses.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart; I finally have hope. Please continue the good work... you are doing a wonderful thing."

-- Christopher S. Lawrence

"I have received the copies of your book that I ordered and am very impressed. It's all I hoped for and it will be a great help in dealing with my doctors and getting them to treat my Rosacea correctly and effectively. My two dermatologists are very open minded and up to date with the newest treatments, they also listen to me as their patient and realize that I sometimes know more about this disease then they do. I have had some problems with my eye doctor though whom I will bombard with information from your chapters on ocular rosacea. Thanks once again and best of luck."

--Thor Jonsson, Iceland

"I wanted to personally thank you for all your wonderful groundbreaking work on this disease. You've single-handedly advanced the knowledge of this problem more than all the derms put together. Your work is inspirational and your treatment sections are of tremendous help."

-- Susan Kastalt, Florida

"I can't begin to express my thanks. Your book completely changed my outlook regarding my rosacea. Previously I couldn't find a doctor who could tell me the first thing about what was wrong with me outside of the dreaded "avoid all your triggers". I am using your research and experience as a guide and doing everything I can to treat my rosacea. I feel so lucky that you had the courage and tenacity to dedicate yourself to this project. You are doing something really wonderful for the many of us rosacea sufferers."

-- Kirsten Perkins, USA

"I have just finished your wonderful book and to me this book is a must have for anyone with rosacea. The book is easy to read, especially because anyone reading it can relate to it specifically. You give great advice on how to treat rosacea with lasers and medications, and explain the science and latest theories behind the disorder. My point is that I want to get to the bottom of this disease and I think that you are the first person who took the time to do the research and has a true understanding of rosacea."

-- Paul Capoli, South Carolina

"I bought your book, read it in a weekend and was left, for the first time in my life, with hope. I have had severe rosacea for over 40 years and have been told that there was no hope for me. Thanks for your book and your continuing crusade. I'm impressed that someone who has beaten rosacea hasn't forgotten those who haven't."

-- Larry Closs, California

"I want to congratulate you on your new book. I just received my copy and finally have a feeling of hope with regard to this disease. I have had debilitating rosacea for approximately 14 years. I am going to bring your book in to my physician and discuss all the new treatment possibilities. Thank you so much for your hope."

-- Shawn Baton, New Orleans

"I received you book "Beating Rosacea" last week and found your book to be the most informative and comprehensive of all that I have read. I really thank you for passing on all the information that you have found through your many years of reading and research. I also appreciate your in-depth discussions on the effect of rosacea on quality of life. My husband and family now have a better understanding of what I am challenged with on a daily basis. Thank you so very much."

-- Paula Bern, Texas

"I recently purchased your book and I wanted to thank you for putting so much dedication and effort into learning more about rosacea. Your book is very insightful. Your treatment section and discussions about the physiology behind flushing triggers has been a great help. Thank you again for all of your hard work and for your recom-mendations."

-- Sam Lang, UK

"I received "Beating Rosacea" about a week ago and I am very excited with all the new stuff I have learned about rosacea and it's treatments. I am only fifteen years old and have been a rosacea sufferer for as long as I can remember. It got worse about a year ago and I have been trying to treat it since then with little success. I have book marked your site and have been looking forward to its completion. Thanks again for the great book and INCREDIBLE support for the Rosacea community. We all thank you a thousand times."

-- Pamela Johnson, Arizona

"First of all I want to thank you for all your research and work done on behalf of people that have rosacea. I received your book and it is very informative. Your treatment suggestions have made a remarkable difference in my rosacea already. I am also very happy that you will be starting a quarterly newsletter. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer questions, and again thank you so much for all the research and work you are doing for people suffering from rosacea."

-- Linda B., Indiana

"I purchased your book, and it is wonderful! It is by far the most comprehensive explanation that I have found for rosacea. Again, thank you for all of your hard research that went into this book!"

-- Kate Richards, USA

"I would like to commend you on your book, it has actually helped me out a lot. I thank you for taking the effort to research and create helpful information for those of us who suffer this awful disease. Thank you."

-- Lisa Minchew, USA

"I want to thank you so much for all you have done in the fight against rosacea. You're book has been so informative and a great help to me. Your medical references at the end of the chapter helped me to get my insurance to cover two medications that they ordinarily would not have covered. Thank you for organizing this in such a way to be helpful to both layman and physicians."

-- Sandy Cliffs, New York

"I think your book is wonderful and very informative. I personally feel lucky to have you on "our" side. My physician did not understand what I was experiencing until she borrowed my copy of your book. Our subsequent visit was much more compassionate and more aggressive in terms of treating the underlying disorder. My rosacea has cleared by approximately 75% based on your treatment research. Thank you for everything."

-- Megan Thompson, New York
